The Van Gogh Museum recently launched a new concept; a mix between art and mindfulness, focused specifically on young people. The program called ‘Open up with Vincent’ was developed with the help of care facilities and professionals specializing in mental health. It includes activities like mindfulness sessions, painting workshops, and learning materials for schools. Much like the painter realized himself during his lifetime, art and creating can function as a remedy against mental health struggles.

Especially after a long pandemic programs like this can be important for young people. Even though some causes of mental struggles, like the restrictions and lockdowns, are rapidly disappearing there are still many factors in society that contribute to a poor state of mind.
Engaging in arts can help to boost confidence and make us feel more engaged and resilient. Besides these benefits, art engagement also alleviates anxiety, depression and stress. So let’s open up with Vincent.
