Founder / CEO
After graduating the art academy, Kees (1976) started working as an graphic designer, became an art director and then creative director working for various (inter)national brands. Parallel to the creative side, for the last decade he has been developing global trends and worked as a consultant/strategist hired by numerous organizations. Kees is responsible of the development and execution of hundreds of divergent concepts. The combination of both his left and right brain skills has prompted the foundation of TrendsActive.
Thimon de Jong
Associate partner & keynote
Thimon (1977) studied Arts & Culture and has a master’s degree in political culture. For the past five years Thimon has been responsible for building and maintaining TrendsActive’s trend database. He is an experienced trend specialist and consultant who puts societal changes and the dynamic behavior of people in a strategic business perspective. Next to being our associate partner, Thimon is also our keynote speaker. He captivates national and international audiences with his passionate, energetic and valuable presentations.
Founder / Managing director
René (1965) started at Nike in various marketing positions and became a pioneer of guerrilla marketing in Europe. After 7 years of working in the international sport industries, he went into the automotive industry and became head of marketing & communication at Audi. After experiencing the client side, René switched to the agency side. As brand director at Lowe René has worked with various international brands like Unilever and Coca-Cola. His wealth of experience in the multinational business world has made René an expert on understanding the client’s perspective when working with trends and developing creative work .
Bas (1975) studied Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and has two master’s degrees in Communication and Organisation Science. He is a former senior trend researcher for Science of the Time and YoungWorks. At International Lifestyle Studies and the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) he teaches research methods, trends and branding. Bas is responsible for building and maintaining TrendsActive’s trend database. He is an experienced trend specialist and consultant that puts societal changes and the dynamic behaviour of people in a strategic business perspective.
Tessa van Asselt
Tessa (1987) studied Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and has two master’s degrees in Youthstudies and Creative Development. Tessa works at TrendsActive as a trend researcher and is responsible for the global research. She regularly presents at clients and conferences and works on the interpretation of trends for project on strategy, marketing and design. With her in-depth knowledge of trends and interdisciplinary thinking, Tessa quickly finds the essence when dealing with a clients business question.
Carola is an innovator, growth agent, brand builder, creative doer, marketing strategist and foodie. Her natural habitat is where innovation, marketing and design intersect. For over twenty years she has worked with some of the world’s largest branded goods companies, including Kraft Foods, The Coca-Cola Company, Danone, Ahold, Sara Lee, FrieslandCampina, DSM, and Philips. Carola loves challenges and believes that growth is achieved through a healthy mix of creativity, daring to believe in new possibilities, business-sense and a passion for making things work.
Vincent has studied Graphic Design and Art Direction. He started his career as art director at Euro RSCG and after three years he joined TrendsActive as a graphic designer/art director. After two years he went on an inspiration trip to Asia, where he visited almost all countries of the continent. This year Vincent returned to TrendsActive with a mind full of fresh ideas. Vincent is a gifted creative as he can combine concept thinking with top notch design skills.
Sjoerd (1985) studied Illustration at the Utrecht Art Academy and after a short period of freelancing he joined the TrendsActive team. Sjoerd assists in all kinds of projects, as a desktop publisher, illustrator or graphic designer. He loves working with paint, paper and ink. Sjoerd is also the first employee of TrendsActive with a full grown beard, earning him much respect from his male (and female) colleagues.
Junior art director
Boris (1989) studied Illustration at the Utrecht Art Academy, but he is not just an illustrator. His mind is filled with creative ideas and concepts and he has a strong sense of humor in his work. Boris enjoys clear graphic design, heavy typography and loves to play with analog vs. digital. Next to the creative side Boris also has a strong interest in trends and graduated with a special project focussing on the generation Digital Natives and their visual communication.
Aljan de Boer
Aljan (1985) studied Marketing and Business Administration in the Netherlands and Mexico and has a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship. Having worked in the fields of advertising, consultancy and education, serving clients such as Canon, BAM, KNVB, TW Steel he is a many-sided specialist. His experience ranges from giving inspirational presentations to crafting creative concepts. At TrendsActive Aljan works at the intersection of marketing and innovation. His ability to inspire clients with insights from trends and translate them to rich, compelling and sometimes provocative strategic concepts moves TrendsActive’s clients forward.
